Trailing drawdown calculator.

A trailing drawdown floor is the lowest equity your account may reach before it breaches — and because it follows your equity up to its peak, the line is tied to your best moment, not your starting balance. Enter your numbers below to see where your floor sits and how much room is left.

Your drawdown floor$98,000
Room to your floor$3,000

Estimate only. Every firm words its drawdown rule differently — the numbers that bind you are in your own account agreement.

The formula

Floor = peak equity − (starting balance × trailing drawdown %). If the floor locks at your starting balance, it stops rising once it reaches that balance. Your room is current equity − floor.

Worked example

A $100,000 account with a 6% trailing drawdown has a $6,000 drawdown amount. If equity peaks at $104,000, the floor trails to $98,000. Once the floor reaches your $100,000 starting balance, a locking rule stops it rising further.

Frequently asked

How is trailing drawdown calculated?+

Multiply your starting balance by the trailing drawdown percentage to get the drawdown amount, then subtract it from your peak equity — that is your floor. On many funded accounts the floor stops rising once it reaches your starting balance. Confirm the exact model in your account agreement.

Does trailing drawdown use balance or equity?+

It depends on the firm — some trail on equity (so unrealised profit lifts the peak), others on closed balance. This calculator trails on the peak equity you enter; check which your firm uses.

Does the floor keep trailing forever?+

Often not. Many programs stop the floor rising once it reaches your starting balance (or once a set profit is locked), after which it is effectively static. Toggle “Floor stops trailing at my starting balance” to model that.
